We Are God’s Hands and Feet, Loving and Serving His Children
Like the Magi following the Christmas star, 22 CBC Missionaries journeyed from northern Virginia for the inaugural trip to Nazareth Farm in West Virginia in search of opportunities to love and serve God. What we found was far beyond our wildest dreams when we signed up for our November adventure. We found a family of Nazareth Farm staff who welcomed us with bear hugs on the night of our arrival. We became the hands and feet of Jesus as we built a wheelchair ramp and a porch for families in need, prepared the winter garden, served the servants on the farm, and enjoyed the spirit of hospitality visiting local families.
Together we formed a prayerful, fun-loving community working cheerfully side-by-side, creating a lifetime of memories. It was powerful to hear the stories of the missionaries and to see their hearts in action doing the work of Jesus. We shared our personal stories and our spiritual journey, challenged ourselves to live more simply, learned new construction skills and how to use various power tools, and gained new perspectives through our conversations and interactions with the local families we served and the Nazareth Farm staff.
The experience spoke to the “Martha” in me. I believe in walking the walk and I am grateful to CBC for this chance to do God’s work for His children.
