His Excellency, The Most Reverend Paul S. Loverde, Bishop Emeritus of Arlington
Bishop Loverde was ordained a priest for service in the Diocese of Norwich. CT on December 18, 1965, in the Basilica of Saint Peter, Rome, and then served in a variety of assignments both on the parochial and diocesan levels. On April 12, 1988, he was ordained an Auxiliary Bishop for the Archdiocese of Hartford, CT. On January 17, 1994, he was installed as the Eleventh Bishop of Ogdensburg, N.Y. Later he then was installed as the Third Bishop of Arlington, VA on March 25, 1999, retiring as Bishop Emeritus in 2016.
In 2008, Bishop Loverde supported and approved the missionary initiative of Commissioned by Christ. As Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Arlington, he currently joins CBC as a member of the Board. He also serves on the Board of Trustees at Catholic Distance University (CDU), where he is also Chair, he is a member of the Board of Trustees of Mount Saint Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Maryland. He also is a member of the Board of Directors of The Institute for Psychological Sciences/Divine Mercy University, the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, the Board for the Commissariat of the Holy Land, the Religious Alliance Against Pornography, and the Board for the National Center on Sexual Exploitation.
